What’s a Victorian night out without a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan?
Wellington G&S Light Opera’s 2014 production is one of the ‘greatest hits’ – The Mikado. If you’ve never seen a G&S show, this is the one. Have a look here for more information and booking details (there are concessions for tertiary students and under-17s).
This is a travelling production, starting at the Lower Hutt Little Theatre on 31 July and 1 August, moving to Palmerston North on 16 August and Wanganui on 23 August, then to Kapiti (Southward Museum) on 30 August and finishing in Wellington on 5 and 6 September. If you’re out of Wellington you can still get along, and we’re betting you’ll be welcomed in full Victorian/steampunk dress (gentlemen, kindly remove your top hats for the convenience of those behind you).
The ‘official’ Capital! Steampunk attendance will be the 7.30pm show on Saturday 6 September. Book at Ticketek and we’ll see you there.
A drink and a bite downstairs at Crumpet is a distinct possibility after the show.
