Backyard Theatre presents Gaslight by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Annabel Hensley, from 1 to 11 October. To quote the synopsis:
This classic psychological thriller is set in Victorian London in the eerily uncomfortable darkness of a foggy late afternoon, with gaslight and tea.
Jack Manningham is deliberately, slowly, driving his wife Bella insane.
Police Detective Rough, along with housekeeper Elizabeth and maid Nancy, showcases this terrifying tale of doomed love, loyalty, treachery and betrayal.
Splendid stuff, and we think Capital! Steampunk should be in attendance on opening night in our evening dress.
Gaslight is on at the Gryphon, 22 Ghuznee Street, at 7.30pm. Tickets are $25 each, or $20 for students and 65+. More details and bookings at iTicket.
