30 November 2014 – Santa Steam Spectacular, Silverstream

You can’t have steampunk without steam, and Capital! Steampunk knows just where to find some.

The Silver Stream Railway Heritage Museum welcomes Santa on Sunday 16 November and, although they don’t know it yet, as many steampunks as we can get together.  We plan to arrive about 10.30am; Santa himself will be about half an hour behind us.  The museum has picnic facilities, so bring something nice if you fancy staying for lunch.  There’s also a shop for ice creams and drinks (with EFTPOS, even).

Your $12 adult admission ticket (cogling tickets are very inexpensive) gets you in the gate and as many steam train rides as you can handle.  They expect to have three – yes! – steam locomotives operating.  Photo opportunities?  I think so …

The museum is located on Reynolds Bach Drive.  If you’re coming from Welly, turn off the Western Hutt Road at Ferguson Drive, then turn south again onto Eastern Hutt Road; Reynolds Bach Drive is a few hundred metres along on the left.

As always, if you need a ride or can offer one, email Capital! Steampunk.
