Sunday 14 February – Cobblestones Early Settlers’ Museum

A very happy 2015 to all Capital! Steampunk followers.  We hope the festive season was as steamy as you could wish.  Ours was – there has been much sewing, the creation of a racing teapot and a Tiffin Master’s hat, and a time machine and new ray gun are underway.

But enough of this.  Capital! Steampunk is all about going places and doing things, so here’s one for you.

We’ve been invited to Cobblestones Museum in Greytown for a day of vintage clothing, machinery and steampunk jollity.  The Hunting of the Snark will have another outing around Cobblestones’ historic buildings, there’ll be tea duelling (note reference to Tiffin Master’s hat, above) and plenty of opportunity to show off your finery.  Best bit?  Arrive in Victorian/Edwardian Colonial/steampunk dress and you’ll get in free.  How splendid!

There’ll be refreshments available, but you might want to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under the historic trees.  Make sure you bring a hat and/or parasol – it can get hot in the Wairarapa.

Cobblestones is at 169-173 Main Street, Greytown.  Look out for the Schoc chocolate factory in the grounds.
